Christmas is HERE!

Merry Christmas!

Tonight we have our fabulous Family Christmas Eve service!  It starts at 6:30, lasts about an hour and we finish by lighting candles and singing Silent night by candlelight!

We will also have a kids story time during the service, and special treat bags for them to take home.

On Sunday December 30th come at 10:30 for a wonderful video message about the impact Jesus has made on our lives, and across the world over the past 2000 (ish) years.  It is an amazing message that you will not want to miss!

Over the Christmas to New Years week, our church office will be closed for the holiday season.  If you need assistance, please email or leave a phone message and we will get back to you as soon as we are able.

November 8th Update

What an amazing couple weeks it has been!

The Mennonite Central Committee Saskatchewan Annual meeting - with many from our church in attendance and also our amazing Spanish worship team got to lead some worship!  Great times!

Empower 12 - also was a fantastic weekend.  Hearing Dr Pringle share about "the pathway to revival" as well as the numerous worship shop presenters and concluding with an amazing night during the Concert of Prayer with the Saskatoon Worship Community!  WOW!  God is good!

It has been a busy few weeks - but there are still so many different ways to continue serving and helping others.

Our very own "Comfort Makers" have been making many blankets, pillows and so much else - just this past week, we got to give away over 3 dozen blankets (adult and child sized) - they were given to the Bridge on 20th and to the Lighthouse!  What an amazing gift it was!

Looking ahead - we have a few different extra activities:

November 25th - we will have a special service with the start to the Advent Christmas season.  It will be a joint service with both our Spanish and English together.  We will do some baby dedications, and begin a series on "HOPE" - following the service is a old-school pot luck lunch (everyone is invited to stay) - and after that the Leadership Team will present our 2013 proposed budget for a ratification vote.

December 24th, 6:30 pm - or fantastic and ever amazing Christmas Eve Service.  This is by far the largest attended event of the year - and we invite YOU to come and remember the reason for the season with us!

Check out MANY more pictures on our church Facebook page!  HERE

Alpha - come soon to a group near you!

This fall we will be jumping into the Campus Alpha program!

You do not need to be a student or even a young adult, EVERYONE is welcome to this Alpha program.  The difference is that Campus Alpha is shorter, has a different speaker (Jamie Heath) and has more video/contemporary references.  So come and check it out!

We will begin at 7pm Tuesday Sept 18th.  We will grab a coffee or other drink, sit down at tables and chairs and watch the 25 minute Alpha video.  When it's finished we will spend some time just talking about the video, questions you may have and explore some of the concepts brought up.

This is for everyone! --- You don't need to have any connection with this church (or any church), you may have been attending a church for years and wondered what Alpha is about, or you may have seen the may online video, tv ads or just been walking by.  Either way - give it a try!  It doesn't cost anything, but could give you the answers you've been looking for.

See you then!

Thursday August 9th update

I'm a very excited about this coming Sunday, and I want to invite YOU!

This week (Sunday August 12th), during our 10:30am service we will spend some time worshiping together, then we will all get to share more about our experiences at different churches.

We want to celebrate both what God is doing all around our city, province, country and maybe even the globe!  We will do this by sharing some of the things you have experienced in different church settings.

We want to learn, celebrate and praise the many different ways that people follow Jesus Christ, and spread the gospel of salvation through him.

So - see you Sunday!

Church news, August 3rd

Good day to all, as I write this the sun in slowly starting to peek out the dark grey clouds above me.  The grass is wet, but lush and green from a night of slow and steady rain.  The church is quiet this morning but God is alive and at work all around us.

This coming weekend, the August long, including Sunday August 5th, so many different things are happening.

Our Afternoon service, with Pastor Miguel has rented a camp on Christopher lake for a family camp.  Almost all of their families are heading there for a 3 day family camp.  There will be no afternoon service this Sunday at the church.

Our morning service also will not be at the church building either.  This weekend many families are away as is usual on August Long Weekend, but we have also decided to experience and encourage all our church families to go and see what God is doing.  For those heading out of town and those staying in town we invite you to head to another church, one you perhaps have not been to before and just join the larger (city wide) experiences of God at work.  There are so many things we can glean from other churches we attend on occasion.  Like:
- what it feels like to be a visitor (and not even know where to find a restroom!)
- we notice how different the church is, and how we both have a church 'home' and a global 'king' in Jesus.
- I would also invite you to notice the way God is at work, it may be the same, or different than you are used to - it still God at work
- You may see things done in a different way than we do here at Massey Place, and thats great too!

With all of our different experiences, I invite you all to come and join us on Sunday August 12th at 10:30.  During that service we will explore together, all the different things we noticed, celebrating what God is doing in our city and country and globe - I think we can and should learn from other churches, we should encourage and pray for them too.  We all have a unique and special part to play in telling our city, our friends, our families and yes even our co-workers about the person of Jesus Christ.

So, have a wonderful weekend, check out what else God is up to around wherever you will be this weekend, and see you next Sunday (Aug 12), 10:30am - right here at Massey Place Church.

God Bless,  Pastor Curtis

Summer Time!

Good day to all,

Well, 'school's out for summer', the lakes are ready and the cabins are open.  The sun is shining and the grass is growing.  I enjoy so many great things about living in Saskatoon, one of those is the changing seasons.

This summer things around the church will continue to carry on.  The services will remain at 10:30 am for the English and 3:00 pm for the Spanish.   People will be taking holidays both on the staff team, as well as around all our families.  So we pray God's blessing on all our families, visitors and community.  That He would bless them with a great summer, safe travels and time to experience true joy - joy found in him.

God Bless.

The regular routine has returned!

For many, the routine hasn't changed.  For eleven of us, we got to spend an amazing week working in Cuba with our Brethren in Christ family, it has been an adjustment.  It was great week, to serve, learn and grow alongside of the Cuban people.  Please click on the Cuba Mission website link above - to see pictures and hear stories about the trip.

Now for the Saskatoon items.

As well as a growing list of studies, small groups and serving opportunities.

We are again participating in a joint Good Friday Service, with 3 other churches meeting at Sutherland Evangelical Church, 110 - 104st west in Sutherland (the old Catholic building).  This will be a great time to celebrate 'New Beginnings' and remember the new beginnings that Jesus brought, through his Death on the cross.

We especially invite you to join us on the coming Sundays, This week, Sunday the 25th, we will bridge the mission trip and Easter with a message on the sending of the Disciples from the Gospels.  The following Sunday we celebrate Palm Sunday, then Good Friday and Easter or Resurrection Sunday follow.
